Banska Bystrica branch of VOP TN was established by fusion of " LOBB Banska Bystrica a.s.", foundation of which is dated back to 1947 and " VOP TN, a.s. " on 1st of July 2009. It is relatively independent unit without legal identity.

The relative autonomy is predetermined not only by its dislocation but also by its very specific purpose of production for Armed Forces of Slovak Republic.

The company is oriented on electro-technical and semi-heavy mechanical engineering industry. Main subjects of company activities are designing, projection, production and repairs of GPU, NDB systems, communication systems and repairs of special vehicle bodies focused on Air Force ground equipment support.

Another significant activity is designing and upgrading of special radio-location military equipment.

In connection with downsizing of the Slovak Armed Forces, there is declining trend in military needs to use abilities and existing capacities of the plant. The management of the company is therefore looking into other options of the production, with emphasis to develop mechanical engineering for home as well as foreign customers in order to use its highly qualified specialists in engineering and electro – technical area.
